FAQ – Swim Lessons
How long will it take for my child to learn to swim?
Each child progresses at an individual pace, much like learning piano. With consistent weekly attendance and small class ratios, most students advance a level every 8–12 lessons.
How many swimmers are in each class?
Beginner classes have a 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio; advanced classes are capped at 5:1 to maximize in-water practice time.
Do my kids need swim goggles?
Goggles speed learning by reducing eye irritation and encouraging full face submersion. Ask our staff to recommend models that seal well and adjust easily.
Should my child start in Beginner or Advanced?
Beginners cannot yet swim forward with their face in the water. Semi-advanced swimmers can breathe while moving 10 feet; advanced swimmers cover the pool length but need stroke refinement. We perform a quick evaluation at the first lesson.
Can toddlers under age 3 join group lessons?
Children younger than three usually benefit more from Baby & Me classes, where a parent provides comfort and support in the water.
My 12-year-old beginner doesn’t want to be with four-year-olds. What options exist?
We group students by both age and skill, keeping class ages within a four-year range whenever possible.
